My name is Nathan James. I started this blog to share with my fellow Christians what God teaches me. I want to be part of helping the church in America be more like the Lord Jesus and less like our humanistic culture. It’s time to turn the light on!
Sadly the Christian church has swallowed a lot of worldly wisdom that cripples the gospel. From moral relativism, to secularization, to fear of giving offense, we’ve allowed our thoughts to be shaped by the age in which we live. This leaves us with little to say as the darkness closes in on our generation.
Many of us have reached a point where our reading of the bible is so filtered through our worldly wisdom that the words of scripture barely reach us. The Lord Jesus knew that was true in his own day, as well. He left us an example to follow. In such times the solution is to call a spade a spade, and a hypocrite a hypocrite. Let’s follow his example.
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12
When Jesus walked the earth, it could be said of his generation that “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” Our generation needs to see the same light. We must not let the conventions of our day silence the gospel.
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
Ephesians 5:13-14
